Overview
Machakhela is one of Georgia's youngest national parks, protecting a long mountain valley south of Batumi famous for chestnut forests, old stone bridges, and traditional Adjarian villages where the houses still have their original wooden balconies. We walk a stretch of the river, stop at one of the villages for tea, and visit a chestnut grove.
