Imereti and Kutaisi - caves, monasteries and a balneological spa

Overview

A two-day journey north into Imereti, Georgia's western breadbasket. We start at Sataplia Cave with its dinosaur footprints and underground river, then drive into Kutaisi for Bagrati Cathedral and the UNESCO-listed Gelati Monastery. Day two takes us to Tskaltubo's Prometheus Cave - the largest cave system in Georgia - and the abandoned Soviet sanatoria with their famous balneological waters.
